Day 13: Best fight you have seen live (this can be pro or amateur) It’s got to be the Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung fight at UFC Fight Night 24. The whole crowd was ready and hyped up for this fight because you knew both fighters were wanting to come in and win on the heels of their first matchup together. Not only did they do that, but the Korean Zombie did it in amazing fashion.
The Korean Zombie ended the fight with a twister, the first in UFC history. He even mentioned that he learned the move from watching Eddie Bravo on Youtube. It’s amazing what you can learn on the internet these days.
Day 12: First live MMA event you attended UFC Fight Night 24 in Seattle, WA. I live here in Seattle, and it was awesome to finally see an event live. There were always chances to see a Rumble at a Ridge event here and there, but it never worked out. Maybe I just liked watching it with all my friends on PPV. But when the UFC decided to come to Seattle — I had to get my ticket.
It was an amazing night of fights and I got to see the first twister submission in the UFC by the Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung.
UFC Fight Night 24 was my first UFC event, and it didn’t disappoint. From the 12 fights they billed for the event, to the party atmosphere even between rounds — it was everything I expected and more. If you have yet to watch a UFC event, I strongly encourage you to check your local listings and see if they’re coming to your town because it’s definitely an experience to remember.
From the beginning at 3pm for the first fight, KeyArena in Seattle was already half filled. At that point, I knew this was going to be a loud and fun event. We were able to see some great submissions, a knockout, and battles that’ll make you say “Wow!”. The two fights that stood out for me was the battle between Michael McDonald vs. Edwin Figueroa and the “twister” submission between Chan Sung Jung vs. Leonard Garcia. I just remember how the crowd roared during both fights and how I was constantly jumping out of my seat . Unforgettable.
The time when “Baba O’Reilly” by The Who came on, it finally felt like a UFC event. They play that music and video montage, you can’t help but get hyped up. And that was the theme of the whole event. Non-stop action from the fights, videos, fans and even the DJ playing music between fights — it never let up. Six hours of fights, and I can’t wait to do it again. UFC 131 in Vancouver?

QUESTION: If you’ve experienced a UFC event, how was your experience?
Right after the UFC Q&A Session, the event continues into photos / autographs with Joe Rogan, Carlos Condit, and Pat Barry — who happened to have stopped by. The energy was great and they were all super nice to stay with us MMA fans until the UFC Fight Night 24 Weigh-Ins started shortly afterwards — like clockwork.
The beauty of the UFC Weigh-Ins is they’re always on time and run quite smoothly. It’s great to see how the fighters look before the fight in order to get a sense of who’s prepared and who’s not. And having all the ring girls from Arianny Celeste to my new favorite, Brittney Palmer in the background wasn’t too bad on the eyes either.
Another great night of fights at UFC Fight Night 24 and the crowd was crazy. Rod Mar, local Seattle photographer, was able to catch some great moments throughout the night. There were a ton of exciting action with the 12-fight card, but here are the ones that really caught our eyes.
1. Phil Davis and Lil’ Nog battle it out in the main event
2. Anthony Johnson rumbles his way to a decision win
